Varanasi, Dec 12 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and MP Kalraj Mishra today said the reaction of the Congress, especially of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, after the party's decision to project L K Advani as its prime ministerial candidate in the next Lok Sabha elections, was unfortunate and immature.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Mishra said a person holding the high office of PM should not have given this statement.
''The PM's comment that BJP has decided to project Mr Advani as the prime ministerial candidate under pressure and fear is wrong...such comments lower the dignity of the PM.'' He said Mr Advani had earlier held the posts of deputy PM and union home minister.
''BJP has decided to project Mr Advani as the prime ministerial candidate after the consent of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and other senior party leaders and workers,'' he said.
Mr Mishra claimed a calculated propaganda was being spread by some vested interests against BJP. ''It is being rumoured that there are differences on the leadership issue in our party...internal differences existed, but now everything has been settled,'' he added.
The senior BJP leader hoped that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies would also accept Mr Advani. ''Janata Dal (U) national president Sharad Yadav has already given his consent.'' Mr Mishra hoped that the NDA would win the next LS election and form the government at the centre.
''The Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections results are going to decide the future of Indian politics. BJP is once again going to win the Gujarat polls and form the next government,'' he added.
