Kinetic to increase market share with 'Flyte'

Kochi, Dec 12: Aiming to garner a 20 per cent share of the scooter market in the country, Kinetic today said its new 'Flyte' was expected to contribute substantially to its growth.

Addressing the press here, Kinetic Vice-President Rahul Bhatnagar said women had emerged as major users of scooters in the country accounting for nearly 60,000 of the 90,000 annual scooter sales in the country. ''We hope 'Flyte', launched in collaboration with SYM of Taiwan, will contribute substantially to our market share from the present nine to 20 per cent in the next six to eight months,'' Mr Bhatnagar said.

Claiming 'Flyte.' a women-focused product, was SYM's current bestseller across 62 countries, Mr Bhatnagar said the 125 CC gearless scooter, priced at Rs 37,499 (ex-showroom, Kochi), came with a three-year warranty.

It had several first-time convenience features such as easy front-fuelling, central locking and anti-theft magnetic key among others.

Besides a highly refined engine, it had secondary air injection, imported front telescopic suspension and nine AH battery for instant start. The scooter was available in five colours.

Mr Bhatnagar said the company was currently producing about 3,500 units of 'Flyte' at its Indore plant hoping to ramp up the production to 10,000 units in the next six months.
