IGIMS Amendment Bill passed in Assembly

Patna, Dec 12 (UNI) The Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) Bill-2007, was passed by voice vote in the Bihar Legislative Assembly amidst noisy walk out by the Oppostion.

The entire Opposition boycotted the House alleging the purpose of the legislation to improve the quality of treatment at the IGIMS would not serve as all their suggestions to incorporate in the Bill was rejected by the treasury bench.

Earlier, state Health Minister Chandrika Rai assured the House that the enacted bill was to improve the quality of treatment at IGIMS and attract the best medical talents from across the country.

Mr Rai said the Bill would help the IGIMS to develop as premier medical college and hospital on the pattern of All India Institute of Medical, New Delhi.
