New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) IT major IBM today said it will set up a service oriented architectures (SOA) leadership centre in Bangalore to address the growing demand for skills needed to solve customer business challenges.

A first of its kind in Asia-Pacific, the centre will start functioning during the first quarter of 2008 and will focus on SOA education and training, implementation support, and exhibitions and demonstrations to benefit IBM customers, business partners and university students, a company statement said.

''Opening this centre is a direct response to what our customers in India are demanding,'' IBM India Country Manager Panini Dwivedi said adding that partnering with local universities will also be a major focus of the center, with a goal of building SOA skills in the emerging work force in the country.

According to Springboard Research's latest report, the SOA market in India is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 40 per cent from 2007 to 2010, making it the fastest growing market in the region.
