Kozhikode, Dec 12 (UNI) The All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) today threatened to withdraw its support to the Congress-led UPA government at the centre if it went ahead with the Indo-US nuclear deal.
AIFB General Secretary G Devarajan told newspersons here that the party, which had five members in the Lok Sabha, would withdraw its support even if other Left parties continued their outside support to the Manmohan Singh government.
He said a decision to this effect had been taken at the party state council meeting, which concluded on December 10 at Bolpur in West Bengal.
Stating that almost all the parties in both Houses of Parliament opposed the deal, he said if the Manmohan Singh Government took a unilateral decision on the issue, it would have ''serious'' impact on the nation.
On Nandigram, Mr Devarajan alleged that the CPI (M) was ''responsible'' for the bloodshed as it ''ignored'' the collective decision of the partners of the ruling Left Front in West Bengal.
He said the AIFB, a major partner in the Left Front in that state, would contest the coming civic polls in the state alone in protest against the ''anti-people'' industrialisation policy of the government.
On Kerala, he said the LDF, which came to power by cashing in on the ''misrule'' of the previous UDF Government, was unable to live upto the expectations of the people as the government had proved to be a total ''failure'' on all fronts.
