Thane, Dec 12 (UNI) Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan will be on a visit here on December 20 to perform ''Bhoomi Pooja'' of the buildings of the National Judicial Academy (NJA) and the Judicial Officers Training Institute to be constructed at Uttan near Bhayender.

The need for such an institute for training the members of the judiciary was a long felt one and the judicial wing also needed a better facility for holding seminars, conferences and meetings.

The National Judicial Academy is an independent society, established in 1993. NJA'S academic programmes are guided by the National Judicial Education Strategy (NJES). Under NJES, NJA has established a national system for judicial education.

Presently, other than the upcoming institute in Maharashtra, the NJA has its facilities in Bhopal and Delhi and gradually it has decided to spread it to all states of the country.
