Asst Commissioner of police held for accepting bribe
Tiruchirapalli, Dec 12 (UNI) The Vigilance and Anti Corruption wing of police arrested the Assistant Commissioner of Police of city Central Crime Branch (CCB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 8,500 from a waste paper merchant here today.
Polce said, the merchant approached the CCB police for filing a complaint against his partners, who allegedly cheated him of a sum of Rs three lakh. The police official S Murugan had demanded the bribe.
On the information, the Vigilance and Anti Corruption wing police trapped the police official at his residence and got him red-handed, police added.
Later the police official was arrested and remanded to judicial custody, police said.
