Vijayawada, Dec 12: Hinduja Group Flagship 'Ashok Leyland', a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, today launched a new Multi Axle Vehicle (MAV), 3121 h (8x2), for the first time in the country, with the highest permitted gross vehicle weight of 31 tonne.
Talking to newspersons here after the launch, Company Chief Operating Officer (COO) Vinod K Dasari said the new MAV was another example of the Company's ability to meet the customer's specific needs in the rated payload regime.
He said the new MAV had a very good economic proposition as it facilitates over 25 per cent extra rated payload and much faster turnaround times.
The engine of the new model meets 'BS II' norms and global standards with a noise level of 78 decibels.
The vehicle was powered by a 210 HP indigenously developed six-cylinder, turbo-charged, inter-cooled engine from the H-series that was renowned for its fuel efficiency and reliability.
The new '3121 h (8x2)', priced at around Rs 15 lakh, was available as cowl chassis and expects to create a new market segment.
The Company had achieved a total turnover of Rs 8,300 crore last year, he said, adding, it's last year profit was Rs 427 crore.
The Company had sold about 83,000 vehicles all over the world last year. This year it had targeted to make sale of 90,000 vehicles.
The Company's market share in terms of vehicles segment in the country was 30 per cent, he added.
