Administration orders inquiry into lathicharge by CRPF

Shillong, Dec 12 (UNI) The district administration has ordered an inquiry into the lathicharge by CRPF personnel at Mothphran, injuring at least eight street hawkers and a pregnant woman here on Monday.

Street hawkers yesterday lodged an FIR against the CRPF personnel and two additional district magistrates in this connection.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police A R Mawthoh has directed Deputy Suprintendent of Police(Crime) to conduct an inquiry.

The incident took place when Shillong Municipal Board(SMB) began evicting the street hawkers in Mothphran area on Monday.
