Renewable energy to form part of engg colleges syllabus

New Delhi, Dec 11 (UNI) Engineering Colleges will now have detailed course on renewable energy and its uses, Minister for New and Renewable Energy Vilas Muttemwar said here today while releasing a students guide on the subject.

Besides, he added, renewable energy youth clubs would also be constituted in all government and private engineering colleges.

The Minister said there was lack of knowledge and information about renewable energy and its various sources, and the book had come at appropriate time when a number of programmes had been taken by the Ministry to create awareness about issue.

The book contains over 1500 multiple choice questions covering various sectors of renewable energy like solar, wind, biomass, biogas, biofuels, hydro, energy from wastes, hydrogen, geothermal, ocean, tidal and waves.

It has three levels of questions, ranging from school to graduate levels. A comprehensive overview of renewable energy development in India has also been presented.

Written by Dr Arun K Tripathi, Director Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the book titled 'Multiple Choice Questions on Renewable Energy' has been published by TERI.

Mr V Subramanian, Secretary of the Ministry said the book fulfills the need of a knowledge bank on this subject.
