Chandigarh, Dec 11 (UNI) Ping mobile service of HFCL Infotel Ltd has reached a subscriber base of one lakh in Punjab in just 80 days.

HFCL Infotel Chief Operating Officer G D Singh said this had been the fastest ever growth of customer base in the mobile domain since the launch of Ping in Punjab and Chandigarh on September 21, he added.

HFCL Infotel invested Rs 100 crore for launching the Ping mobile service which is available today in 270 towns and 2050 villages of Punjab, and Chandigarh through a state-wide distribution network of 8,000 retail outlets.

Mr Singh said HFCL Infotel invested about Rs 20 crore more to extend the service to 5000 more villages in Punjab and would put up 100-150 BTS (towers) for the purpose very shortly .

The success of Ping mobile services, he said, was due to the value for money offerings in keeping with the entry level and mid segment subscriber's demands.

Ping offered for the first time in the country a unique customer-friendly pulse rate of one paisa per second, and SIM-based feature rich range of colour mobiles stating at Rs 999 only.

''Innovation has been the key in marketing our services and reaching out to the hitherto un-serviced segment of society in Punjab with a number of value-for-money schemes,'' he said.
