Opium cultivation will be checked: Jharkhand DGP
Hazaribagh, Dec 11 (UNI) Jharkhand Director General of Police Vishnu Dayal Ram today said police forces would take measurable steps to check opium cultivation in the state.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Ram said that the Suprintendents of Police(SP) of the district concerned had been directed to damage the crop being cultivated in their areas.
Mr Ram was here to attend a review meeting attended by the SPs of Koderma, Hazaribagh, Chatra and Giridih.
Referring to naxal strikes, Mr Ram said the ultras have tried to create panic among the people of the state.
Mr Ram said about 145 police stations had been identified as ultra-sensitive areas.
