Naxalites trigger claymore mine; 4 SOG jawans injured

Malkangiri, Dec 11 (UNI) Four Special Operation Group(SOG) jawans were injured, three of them critically, in a claymore mine explosion triggered by Naxalites near MPV31 village close to Kalimela in the district today.

Malkangiri Superintendent of police S K Gojbhiye said the SOG jawans on being informed about the claymore mine, rushed to the spot to defuse it.

When the jawans were defusing it, the mine exploded injuring four jawans on the spot. Soon after the incident, reinforcement rushed to the site to intensify the combing operation in the area to flush out the naxalites.

The SP said all the four jawans were brought to the Malkangiri hospital for treatment. Later three of the critically injured were shifted to Visakhapatnam.
