New Delhi, Dec 11 (UNI) A Memorandum of Understanding was today signed among the Ministry of Railways, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), National Minerals Development Corporation(NMDC) and the State Government of Chhattisgarh to construct a 235 Km new broad gauge railway line from DalliRajhara to Jagdalpur via Rowghat in Chhattisgarh.
Union Minister of Railways Lalu Prasad, Union Minister of Chemical and Fertilizers and Steel Ram Vilas Paswan, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Raman Singh and Minister of State for Railways R Velu were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad said the new railway line will pass through iron ore rich regions of Beladila and Rowghat, which will lead to the increase in the steel production in the country. He also added that the new line will provide lot of employment opportunities to the tribals and backward classes of the region.
Dr Raman Singh said the new railway connectivity will also work as a bridge between North and South. He also envisaged the new railway line to also serve for tourism.
In his address, Mr Paswan said the Public sector in the country was performing with efficiency and called upon them to spend a certain percentage of their profit to meet what is known as Corporate Social Responsibility.
