Patna Dec 11(UNI) The LJP has decided not to field its candidate in the coming Vikramganj Assembly byelection following patchup between the RJD and NCP, the alliance partner of UPA.
LJP MLC and its spokesperson Sanjay Singh announced the party's decision and told newspersons here that it would stay away from contesting the byelection in the state.
He said the decision was taken for keeping unity within the UPA and admitted that if the party had contested the poll it would have indirectly benefitted the NDA candidate.
He said to prevent any dent in the UPA vote bank, the LJP has decided not to field its candidate.
Earlier, the LJP was contemplating to field Shobha Yadav for the Vikramganj Byelections. However, the recent patchup between the RJD and NCP the party reviewed its stand and preferred to stay away from the electoral battle ground.
He said the party would maintain equidistance from both, RJD and NDA.
