Puducherry, Dec 11 (UNI) All India Congress Committee General Secretary V Narayanasamy, MP, today urged the Puducherry administration to implement 'Goondas Act' in the Union Territory.
Referring to the recent bomb blast at Vanarapet, in which two boys were killed, he told a news conference that 'bomb culture' had sneaked into Puducherry. Prevalence of murder and burglary in broad daylight showed the ''sluggish attitude'' of the police department, he alleged.
The stringent anti-goondas drive in neighbouring Tamil Nadu had coerced the anti-social elements there to seek asylum here. They were camping in Thattanchavady and Lawspet constituencies with the connivance of police, he charged. ''Some people were harbouring goondas,'' he added.
''I have urged Chief Minister N Rangasamy to introduce the proposal for Goondas Act in a cabinet meeting and take steps for its implementation,'' he claimed.
