Haryana reeling at 75 for 7 in 2nd innings, lead by 162 runs

By Staff

Rohtak, Dec 11 (UNI) An inspired bowling performance by Madhya Pradesh saw hosts Haryana lose the upper hand, slumping to 75 for seven after bundling out the visitors for 215 on the penultimate day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Elite Group 'B' match here today.

Earlier, resuming the first innings at 109 for four, Madhya Pradesh floundered to get past Haryana's first innings total of 302.

A collective failure on the part of the visitors saw them handing a crucial 87-run lead to the hosts.

None of the MP batsmen could make a big score although most of them got starts.

After being bowled out, Madhya Pradesh seamers took upon themselves the task of making a match out of the contest.

Both Haryana seamers -- S Pandey and Sunil Dholpure-- bowled with venom to put the hosts in a tight spot, claiming three wickets apiece. Off-spinner Jalaj Saxena claimed the other wicket.

Haryana batsmen found the going tough as they lost four wickets in the span of mere eight runs and in the 16th over they were tottering at 36 for four.

The slide did not stop there as they lost their last three wickets, adding only 32 runs. The hosts eventually lost seven wickets for a paltry 75 after 35 overs.

At the draw of stumps, tailender Jitender Tarsemlal Billa (6) and Gaurav Vashisht (1) were at the crease.
