Govt extends assistance of Rs 203.14 cr in 2004-05 to 2006-07

New Delhi, Dec 11 (UNI) Ministry of Food Processing Industries has extended a sum of Rs 203.14 crore during the last three financial years as financial assistance in the form of grant-in-aid to implementing agencies/entrepreneurs for Technology Upgradation, Modernisation and Establishment of Food Processing Units.

Food Processing Industries are both present in organised and unorganised sectors and proper data on such units in the country is not centrally maintained.

The Government has also approved release of grant of Rs 61.98 crore during 2007-08 (upto November 26, 2007) for various project for setting up, modernisation, technology upgradation of these industries.

The financial assistance released for these projects in respect of the various states during the last three years is Rs 51.14 crore in 2004-05, Rs 69.81 crore in 2005-06 and Rs 82.19 crore during 2006-07.
