Mumbai, Dec 10: Bollywood actor Fardeen Khan presented himself before a local court today in connection with a drugs case pending against him.
Earlier, the prosecution had contended that Khan, who was in the United States for the shooting of a film, was trying to delay the case by avoiding to appear before the court.
Khan, through his lawyer, had communicated to the court that he had lost his passport and, hence, was unable to present himself before it. But, the prosecution had described this as an excuse.
Khan, meanwhile, submitted all relevant documents in the court of additional sessions judge P N Deshmukh today, including his newly issued passport.
Fardeen Khan was arrested in 2001 by Anti Narcotics Cell sleuths for allegedly trying to buy one gram of cocaine from a pedlar.
The alleged pedlar, Nasir Shaikh, who stands as the prime accused in the case, has in his statement said he had supplied one gram of cocaine for Rs 3,000 to the actor on several occasions.
Defence lawyer Aiyaz Khan, arguing on behalf of the actor, told the court that no drugs had been recovered from his client's possession. The prosecution will make its submission on December 17.
