Canadian expertise for food centre development in Bihar
New Delhi, Dec 11 (UNI) The government of Manitoba province in Canada today said it will partner with India to provide expertise in setting up a food development centre in Bihar.
Manitoba will act as a consultant to the country's leading infrastructure development and finance company Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (IL&FS), which will manage the centre and distribute products developed by it.
''IL&FS has been interacting with the Manitoba Agriculture Food and Rural Initiatives and realised that the synergy between the two agencies could contribute a great deal to the development of the country's food processing sector which lacks world-class technology,'' IL&FS MD Harishankaran said.
With the creation of this centre, the new companies and products that will emerge will create more business opportunities for the country's growing food processing sector and for Manitoba's agri-food industry, said Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives Minister Rosann Wowchuk, who is on a trade mission to India.
