Badal inagurates Advocate Generals office
Chandigarh, Dec 11 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today exhorted the legal fraternity to play a pro-active role in bringing social awakening amongst the masses against the evils of drug addiction and female foeticide in the society.
He pledged the stategovernments' full support and cooperation in this regard.
Speaking at a function after inaugurating a new building of the Advocate General Office here in the premises of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Mr Badal said that the AG's office was an important institution and the state government was committed to provide all basic inputs to ensure congenial atmosphere to the law officers to perform their duties with utmost responsibility and professional commitment.
In his address, High Court Chief Justice Vijender Jain said that the AG's office acts as a bridge between the judiciary and the executive (state administration). He urged the Chief Minister to accord top priority for improving the functioning of this institution because it represents and safeguards the rights of the state.
Advocate General H S Mattewal welcomed the dignatories on the occasion.
