Uttarakhand Congress seeks B-2 status for Dehradun from PM

Dehradun, Dec 10 (UNI) Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee representatives, headed by state unit chief Yashpal Arya, met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Indian Military Academy helipad and handed over a memorandum seeking B-2 status to Dehradun city here today.

Dr Singh was here to reveiw the Passing Out Parade of the Indian Military Academy.

In the memorandum, the state unit has stated that Central employees working in the city have been demanding B-2 status for the state capital. Their demand has received support from various public representatives of the state capital.

After the city was declared temporary capital of Uttarakhand, the living standard of people had gone high with price inflation, the memorandum asserted in support of the demand.

The state unit has also sought appropriate financial package for Tehri Dam oustees citing that due to apatetic attitude of the governments their problems remained unsolved.

Sufficient supply of LPG has also been sought as natural resources of fuel-- fire wood, has been made out of reach for the people with conservation of trees.

The state Congressmen have also urged the Prime Minister to instruct the state government to effectively implement the 15-points programme meant for minorities in the state.

The other demands included making standards of BPL card more linient and revamping of closed industries in the state.

The representatives included former minister Hira Singh Bisht, Dehradun Mayor Manorma Dobriyal Sharma, MLAs Dinesh Aggarwal and Jot Singh Gunsola.
