Tiruchirapalli, Dec 10 (UNI) To popularise parallel cinema, noted Tamil director Thankarbachan organised a free screening of his latest film 'Onbadhu Rubai Nottu' in the state.
An official of Pyramid Saimira, the distributor of the film, said the film was screened yesterday at about 100 theatres in Tamil Nadu.
A 'hundy' (collection box) was kept in front of every theatre for the viewers to contribute.
''After a long time, I got a chance to watch a good film.
Tamil film industry needs more such movies,'' a film buff said.
Managing Director of a theater, where the film was screened, said these sort of novel approach would help popularise films, based on the commonman's story.
The film, which had veteran actor Sathyaraj and Archana in the cast, is based on Thankarbachan's novel, having the same name.
