Puducherry, Dec 10 (UNI) Puducherry town will get B2 status soon, PMK Parliamentary Party leader Prof M Ramadass today said.
Talking to newspersons here, he said he had urged Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram in this regard at a function in the Karaikal region recently and the latter had agreed to consider it.
Mr Chidambaram had also agreed to consider declaring Karaikal as a backward district.
Prof Ramadass said he also urged Union Communication Minister A Raja to release a postal stamp on veteran CPI leader V Subbiah and the latter had agreed to do the needful. Earlier, the then minister Dayanidhi Maran had stated that postal stamps would be released on the centenary celebrations of an eminent person, he noted.
He said Union Shipping and Transport Minister T R Baalu had sanctioned Rs 3.4 crore from the Central Road Development Fund to repair the Karaikal-Nedumgadu road.
