Jaipur, Dec 10 (UNI) The National Commission for Women(NCW) today urged Rajasthan Government to recruit women protection officers and create other administrative infrastructure for proper implementation of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act(PWDVA) 2005.

Addressing a press conference here, commission Chairperson Ms Girija Vyas said Rajasthan was among the very few states which had so far not recruited protection officers and created the desired infrastructure like appointment of service providers and doctors.

She said after implementation of the above law on October 26,2006, Rajasthan had reported highest incidence of cases of domestic violence(3440 cases) and besides this, crime against women had also showed a rising trend in this state during the past three years.

She said the effective implementation of the PWDVA was vital for bringing down crime and atrocities against women as the new law made it mandatory for the officials to file a case within three days of the report of crime and final disposal of the case by the court within three months.
