Rajkot, Dec 10 (UNI) Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the first phase of polling, which will see 87 assembly constituencies going to the polls tomorrow.
Para military forces have been deployed at strategic points and the Election Commission has ordered video recording at all polling booths.
Out of the 87 constituencies going to the polls tomorrow, 58 are located in the Saurashtra region.
Polling will held from 0800 hrs to 1700 hrs and the authorities have made preparations to ensure free and fair elections.
About 58 companies of para-military forces have been deployed in Rajkot district, 47 companies in Jamnagar district, 38 companies in Surendrangar district, and 12 companies in Porbandar.
New Braille-enabled Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used for the first time in tomorrow's elections for the benefit of the visually-handicapped voters. As many as 3150 such EVMs will be used in Rajkot district.
