Committee urges Lalu not to demolish temples
Kohima, Dec 10 (UNI) Hindu Mandir Protection Committee in Dimapur has appealed to Railway Minister Lalu Prasad to prevent removal of the temple structures from the station premises.
In a signed memorandum to the minister, 41 members of the committee stated the history of the settlement of Hindus in Dimapur and establishment of the two temples way back in 1913 by army officers.
They also questioned the railway authority as to why Hindu temples were being targetted while other encroachments on railway land were being spared.
Reiterating their support to the beautification work, the committee claimed that thee two temples did not cause obstruction to the expansion and beautification and instead added a charm and beauty to Dimapur railway station.
The railway minister is likely to visit Dimapur soon.
