Vadodara, Dec 10 (UNI) At least ten supporters of ruling BJP and Congress party, including Vadodara district BJP General Secretary Valji Bariya, were injured in a poll-related violence in the tribal-dominated Jetpur Assembly constituency yesterday, police said today.

They said supporters of both the parties indulged in heavy brickbatting in Harakhpur village after a group of Congress activists intercepted the car of Mr Bariya, who, along with his supporters, was on his way to Chief Minister Narendra Modi's election rally.

Mr Bariya and two of his supporters, who sustained head injury in stone throwing, were rushed to the SSG Hospital in Vadodara, while two other Congress workers -- Harinath and Sandeep Biswal -- were admitted to a private hospital in Badeli, the sources said and added that at least two cars were also damaged.

Additional reinforcement was sent from Jetpur to bring the situation under control.

Though police had registered three complaints filed by both the sides in connection with the incident, no one had been arrested so far.

On Saturday, supporters of both the parties had reportedly clashed in the same village over pasting of party posters on the wall of a BJP supporter's house. Police said adequate force had been deployed in the village to maintain law and order.
