Ballia by-poll start of battle against BSP: Amar Singh

Ballia, Dec 10 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) national general secretary Amar Singh today said the forthcoming Ballia by-election was the start of party's battle against the Mayawati led-BSP government in Uttar Pradesh.

Mr Singh was addressing an election husting in the support of SP candidate Neeraj Shekhar.

The party is beginning a battle against the BSP from this by-poll, Mr Singh maintained.

''Chief Minister Mayawati is frustated...the recent raid conducted at the residence of late PM Chandra Shekhar on her orders proves this,'' the SP leader added.

While, party vice-president Janesh Mishra urged the people to send Neeraj Shekhar to Parliament.

The people of Ballia have never accepted an outsider candidate,Mr Mishra added.

The Ballia by-poll is scheduled to be held on December 29.

The seat fell vacant after the death of former prime minister Chandra Shekhar.
