Chennai, Dec 10 (UNI) The Opposition AIADMK today complained about the move to divert about 5,000 private buses from their regular routes to ferry ruling DMK cadre to the party's state youth wing conference, scheduled to be held in Tirunelveli on December 15 and 16.

Deputy leader of the Opposition O Panneerselvam, AIADMK whip K A Sengottaiyan and Legislature Party Treasurer D Jayakumar, in a joint memorandum to the State Home Secretary, alleged that the buses, if allowed to be diverted, would cause great inconvenience to the general public, especially to school and college students.

They claimed that the Government was exerting pressure on the private operators to ply their buses to Tirunelveli from various parts of the State, deviating from their regular routes.

In the interest of the public, the State Government should not allow diversion of private buses to Tirunelveli, the leaders said, demanding that the Government ensure that the private buses operated on regular routes.
