Sonia's birthday observed as 'awareness day'

Chennai, Dec 9 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee today celebrated the birthday of Congress President and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi's birthday as public 'awareness day'.

In a statement here, TNCC president M Krishnaswamy said publicity material on several programmes implemented by the Congress-led UPA Government was circulated and the district-level coordinators took part in the celebrations.

A 62-kilo cake was cut and distributed to the people at the party headquarters 'Sathyamurthy Bhavan'.

Apart from this, special prayers were offered in various temples and mass feeding and distribution of dhotis and saris also marked the celebrations in different parts of the city.
