Gandhinagar, Dec 9 (UNI) Police today seized 481 bogus voters' cards from Daskroi tehsil in Ahmedabad district and have booked five persons in this connection.

Acting on an information that some persons were issuing bogus identity cards, without photographs, to the voters in the area, the police swung into action and booked the five persons, police said.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) today issued a directive not to use mobile phones inside the polling booths for fair and peaceful conduct of the Gujarat assembly elections. The directive has barred even the candidates and their polling agents from using mobile phones.

The Commission, however, has given an exemption to presiding officers, election commission observers, sector officers, micro-static observer and assembly election department officers to carry mobile phones inside the booths only for official purposes.

In order to prevent bogus voting, the EC has already started survey of the voters who could not cast their franchise in view of their absence from the respective constituencies.
