Mah Govt hikes Thane Dist's annual plan income to Rs 68 cr

Thane, Dec 9 (UNI) Maharashtra Finance Minister Jayant Patil today said the government has hiked the annual plan for the district from the proposed Rs 40 crore to Rs 68 crore.

Addressing a news conference after a meeting of the Planning and Development at the district collectorate here, Mr Patil said the proposed plan outlay for the district for the year 2008-09 has been hiked from Rs 39.71 crore to Rs 68.18 crore, an increase of Rs 28.47 crore.

He said this has been done keeping in mind the growing population and increasing needs of the district.

He said hereafter the task of technical and administrative approval has been entrusted to the district collector who will also see to it that the approved sum has been spent appropriately.

The meeting was attended by Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and a number of senior officers of the district, including the Konkan Divisional Commissioner Srikanth Singh.
