Mumbai, Dec 9 (UNI) The sixth edition of the award winning 'Kingfisher Swimsuit Special' (2008) was unveiled by Bollywood actor John Abraham along with UB Ltd Chairman Dr Vijay Mallya amidst a host of celebrities from the world of fashion, business and celluloid here today.
Shot by ace photographer Atul Kasbekar, the calendar features seven models. This year's swimsuit special has some of the finest and most luxurious brands in the world including La Perla swimwear from their special 'India inspired line', shoes by Jimmy Choo, sunglasses by Roberto Cavalli, watches by Watches of Switzerland and accessories by Christian Dior.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mallya said this year's calendar has been shot against splendid landscapes in India. With locales ranging from mysterious lands of Ladakh to the emerald isles of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, from the magnificient palaces of Udaipur to the sandy beaches of Goa, the calendar oencapsulates the ethereal Indian beauty.
Atul Kasbekar said ''India has some of the most incredible locations, which have phenomenal potential to boost our tourism industry and if we succeed in our small way to do that, I will be gratified.'' He said the pictures in the calendar has been shot in exotic places like the Shey palace, Spituk Bridge, Nubra valley and Ranbirpura at the Chang La lake in Ladakh, the Kingfisher Villa and Calizz Museum in Goa, Shiv Nivas and city palace in Udaipur and Havelock Island and Elephant Island in Andaman and Nicobar.
Dr Mallaya said the calendar was introduced in 2003, the first of its kind calendar in India. It promises 12 months of fun, glamour and visual appeal. A showcase for the Indian fashion industry, the calendar was a rare combination of photography and fashion symbolising life, fun, glamour and beauty. The 2008 edition captures the captivating beauty and essence of India, he added.
