Israel's cultural troupe to visit India
Shillong, Dec 9 (UNI) A cultural troupe from Israel will visit India later this week to perform three programmes in two metros and here to mark the 60th anniversary of India's Independence and 15 years of Indo-Israel diplomatic relations.
The troupe, ''Shalom Namaste Israel Ashdod,'' comprising mostly the Jews of Indian origin, is scheduled to perform in New Delhi on December 13, here on December 15 and Mumbai on December 18, in collabroation with Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
''Shalom Namaste'', will produce a variety of show, depciting the culture of Israel, the contribution of the Indian community in Israeli culture and the strong ties between the two countries.
The troupe is an amalgamation of two famous dance troupes of Israel- 'Namaste Israel' and 'Shalom Ashdod'.
''Namaste Israel'', founded by David Nigerkar, is aiming to enrich the Israeli culture with the diversity of Indian music, song and dance. The company is quite popular among the Indian community in Israel.
''Shalom Ashdod'' is a folk dance group, which brings the diversity of the people of Israel and their cultural roots and heritage. The dance combines elements from the Arabic Debke, to Hasidic Dance, to Yemenite steps, to Polish Polka dance and others.
UNI
