Gr Noida-Ballia Ganga Expressway Project anti-farmer: SP
Lucknow, Dec 9 (UNI) Opposition Samajwadi Party today termed the Greater Noida-Ballia Ganga Expressway Project as anti-farmer.
State party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary alleged here that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati was trying to transfer 1,047 square km of highly fertile agricultural land along the route to some capitalists in the garb of the ambitious project.
He maintained that the proposed Rs 30,000 crore Ganga Expressway Project was in no way related to the development of UP.
Mr Chaudhary suggested the existing road between Greater Noida-Ballia could be widened to conform to newer requirements, rather than launching the Ganga Expressway project.
''The eight-lane road would not only render lakhs of UP farmers unemployed, but adversely affect foodgrain production,'' he claimed.
