Kathmandu, Dec 9 (UNI) Voicing concern over growing attacks on mediapersons in Nepal, the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has charged the government of being irresponsible for their well-being.

The two-day central committee meeting of the FNJ, which concluded on Friday, lambasted the administration for not being able to protect journalists and initiate action against those who attack them, Kantipuronline reported.

It condemned the government in not being able to punish the Maoist cadres involved in the murder of journalist Birendra Sah and for failing to trace the whereabouts of journalist Prakash Thakuri, who was allegedly abducted by the Maoists five months back.

The scribes' body also demanded immediate implementation of the amended Working Journalist Act and the act pertaining to right to information.
