Jammu, Dec 9 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers have started joint surveillance in all the sectors along the International Border (IB) in order to continue the four-year-old ceasefire smoothly, official sources said here today.

''Acting on the outcomes of the recent three-day summit at Lahore, both the BSF and Pakistan Rangers have started joint surveillance along the IB,'' the sources told UNI.

The BSF troops had been directed to be more vigilant and operational in bringing down cross-border smuggling and infiltration through the IB that runs down from Punjab to Akhnoor sector while the Pakistan Rangers too had passed instructions in this regard, the sources said.

The border guards of both the neighbouring countries hold regular annual and quarterly meetings to discuss various issues and keep the truce good, besides making out strategies to combat cross-border smuggling and illegal movement of Bangadesh and Myanmar nationals.
