Kolkata, Dec 9 (UNI) Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Thiru T R Balu today met West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee and discussed about roads and shipping projects in the state.
During the meeting,the Union Minister informed the Chief Minister about the progress of some important projects undertaken by the union ministry and expressed happiness for all out support from the state government, officialsources said.
The Chief Minister during the meeting, raised the issue of proposed Deep Sea port at a cost of Rs seven thousand crore at Sagar and emphasised the need to expedite the preparatory work which is the first urgent requirement of the state.
Mr Balu agreed with Mr Bhattacharjee regarding the Deep Sea port and instructed his ministry's official to fix a meeting on December 20 with the State Government to expedite the pending issues in this regard.
The Chief Minister also expressed concern about some problems faced by the NHAI in the survey work at Barasat and Islampur areas regarding the widening of NH 34 in the state.
