APSHRC asks Govt to order CBCID probe into attack on doctors

Hyderabad, Dec 9: Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (APSHRC) has asked the State Government to order a CID probe into the attack on junior doctors by Asif Nagar MLA Afsar Khan and his supporters, at Niloufer Children's Hospital on December two.

After conducting inquiry with the doctors and hospital authorities, based on the complaint lodged by the Doctors Association here, the SHRC Chairman Justice Subhashan Reddy directed the Government to conduct CID probe into the incident and provide adaquate security at the Government hospitals in the city.

Warning that disciplinary action would be taken against the doctors who boycotted their duties since last week, demanding action against the MLA, Justice Reddy said stringent action would be taken against the erring doctors.

The Commission also directed the Government to pay compensation to the doctors, who were injured in the attack.

Meanwhile, the junior doctors announced that they would attend the emergency services in the government hospitals, except in Niloufer from today.

The junior doctors were demanding that the Government should provide Special Protection Force (SPF) at the Government hospitals and book attempt to murder cases against the people, who attack the doctors and nurses at these hospitals and arrest the MLA under murder case.

Based on a petition filed by the doctors, a local court had directed the police to book a murder case under Section 307 against the MLA on December seven.
