Record paddy arrival in Haryana

Chandigarh, Dec 8 (UNI) The arrival of paddy in 179 mandis of the state has broken the previous year record as 40.34 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis so far as against 39.81 lakh metric tonnes during the corresponding period last year.

While stating this here today, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that the arrival of the paddy in mandis had picked up due to raising of bonus on paddy Rs 100 per quintal by the Central government.

While enumerating the details of the arrival of paddy in the state, Mr Mohan said that around 17.82 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had been procured by the six government procuring agencies.

He said HAFED had procured 7.19 lakh MTs of paddy, Food and Supplies Department had procured 5.64 lakh MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 2.23 lakh MTs, Confed 2.04 lakh MTs, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 60,179 MTs of paddy and Food Corporation of India 10,389 MTs.

The Deputy Chief Minister further said that Kurukshetra district was still on the top in arrival of paddy in all the districts of the State with the arrival of 7.20 lakh MTs of paddy followed by Karnal 6.53 lakh MTs, Kaithal 4.98 lakh MTs, Fatehabad 4.76 lakh MTs, Jind 3.36 lakh MTs, Ambala 3.11 lakh MTs, Yamunanagar 2.17 lakh MTs, Sirsa 1.87 MTs, Panipat 1.85 lakh MTs and Faridabad 1.51 lakh MTs.
