Kapadwanj, Dec 8 (UNI) Hitting out at the Narendra Modi government in Gujarat, Congress President Sonia Gandhi today said it was now scared as its ''real face'' was coming to the fore.

In an indirect reference to Mr Modi's alleged remark justifying the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case, Ms Gandhi, addressing a huge rally in the cotton town of Gujarat said, ''sarkar ka asli chehra abhi behnikab ho raha hai (the government is showing its true colours), they say something in the Supreme Court and something else in public.'' Alleging that the Modi Government had failed to do anything on the development front, she said, ''instead of water, corruption flows in the Sujalam Sufalam Yojana, farmers have to live in the dark despite the Jyotigram Yojana and thousands of small businesses have closed down. Yet, the government is misleading the people about its so-called achievements.'' Debunking Mr Modi's allegation that the Centre has been partial towards Gujarat, she said the UPA government has disbursed several thousand crores of rupees under various programmes like the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and the National Grahmin Vikas Yojana.

She informed that under the JNNURM, the Centre has allotted six thousand crore to the state and also approved the building of bridges, more than half of which are in Gujarat. It has also set up a fund of Rs 25,000 crore for the benefit of farmers.

The rally was attended by a large number of people from near and far and Ms Gandhi personally shook hands with some of them.
