Chennai, Dec 8 (UNI) The Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK) today announced a two-day agitation across Tamil Nadu from December 17 to protest against the DMK government for the ''shortage'' of power and fertilisers in the state.

A party release here said the agitation would be staged to condemn the Union and state governments for failing to hike MSP of paddy to Rs 1000 per quintal.

It said the power crisis had affected all sections of the people, including farmers, industrialists, traders, workers and students. Farmers were severely affected following an 'unprecedented' shortage of fertilisers in the state, the release added.

MDMK General Secretary Vaiko would lead the agitation in the city on December 17 and in Nagercoil the next day, while Party Treasurer M Kannappan in Coimbatore on the two days.

Party Deputy General Secretaries Nazereth Durai and Mallai Sathya would lead the agitation in Tuticorin and Tirunelveli, and Villupuram and Kancheepuram districts respectively on the two days, the release added.
