Mumbai, Dec 8: Mahavitaran and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for Mouda Thermal Power Station for 25 years.
The PPA was signed by Managing Director of Mahavitaran Ajay Bhushan Pandey and Executive Director of NTPC Indrajit Kapur during a brief ceremony held at Hongkong Bank Building office of Mahavitaran yesterday.
NTPC's 1000 MW coal-based mega thermal power project at Mouda is expected to be commissioned in the year 2011 -2012. The Central Electricity Authority would decide the quantum of power to be given to the stake holders, including Mahavitaran.
However, considering the fact that the project is situated in Maharashtra and there is a power crisis in the state, Mahavitaran has requested for allocation of 900 MW from the said project, informed Dr Pandey and added that Mouda being central sector project, its power tariff would be decided by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC).
