Legal notice issued to Swamy for levelling allegations:Baalu
Chennai, Dec 8 (UNI) Union Minister for Shipping and Road Transport T R Baalu today said a legal notice was issued to Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy for his ''baseless'' charge that the tender for sand quarrying at Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project (SSCP) site was allotted to his (Baalu's) son.
Talking to reporters after distributing free colour TVs to the poor here, he denied the allegations levelled by Dr Swamy and described them as baseless.
''A legal notice has been issued to Dr Swamy for his baseless charge,'' he added.
To a question, Mr Baalu said the dredging works in the SSCP would be completed soon after the interim stay by the Supreme Court was vacated.
''Except in the Adam's Bridge area, the dredging works are on in the Palk Straits. We are confident that the Supreme Court will vacate the stay on dredging work in the Adam's Bridge area at the earliest,'' he added.
