Indian powerlifters add two more gold in Commonwealth event

New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) Indian men added four more medals, including two gold, on the third day to swell thje country's medal haul to 19 in the Commenwealth Powerlifting Championship in Christchurch in New Zealand today.

Masala Moni and Koteshwar Rao bagged gold in the seniors 67.5kg and 90kg weight categories with lifts of 640kg and 447.5kg respectively.

Devendra lifted 440kg to pocket a silver in the seniors 90kg category while Fazal claimed a bronze in the seniors 82.5kg with a total lift of 602.5kg, a release of the Indian Powerlifting Federation said.

Yesterday, Indian men had won seven medals including four gold adding to the eight medals won by their female counterparts on the opening day.

India has now won a total of 19 medals - 11 gold, five silver and three bronze.
