Death toll rises to 36 in Nilofeur Hospital

Hyderabad, Dec 8 (UNI) The death toll in Nilofeur Hospital rose to 36 even as the junior doctors' strike entered the seventh day here today.

Police registered an attempt to murder case against AIMIM MLA Afsar Khan, following a direction from a City Court.

Hospital sources said about 150 doctors, including 34 who had come on deputation, attended to ill children.

Taking a tough stand, the striking medicos decided to continue their stir, demanding suspension of AIMIM MLA Afsar Khan from state assembly for allegedly attacking their counterparts in the hospital on December 2.

The opposition parties at a meeting by the junior doctors demanded the arrest of the AIMIM MLA.

The striking medicos made it clear that they would not resume duty till adequate security was provided to them.

Meanwhile, the hospital authorities received a bomb threat.

The anonymous call to the authorities, however, turned out to be a hoax, police added.
