San Jose, California, Dec 8 (UNI) Prominent Hindu chaplain Rajan Zed, Governor Bobby Jindal, Sunita Williams and teen-idol Sanjaya have been listed among the top ten newsmakers of the year by a prestigious Indian-American publication.
"India Currents", a monthly magazine, San Jose, California, which comes up with the list of prominent Americans of Indian origin every year in its December issue, has included policy makers, original thinkers, trendsetters, record-breakers, media sensations, in its list after an exhaustive research.
The Indo-Americans newsmakers listed in this publication include Zed, who read the historic first Hindu prayer in the US Senate in July last, include, Bobby Jindal, newly-elected Governor of Louisiana, Sunita Williams, famous astronaut who set the record for longest single spaceflight, Pulitzer prize winner Geeta Anand of Wall Street Journal, actor Kal Penn, Prof Gayatri Chakravorty of Columbia University, teenage icon Sanjaya, film director Rajnesh Domalpalli of Vanaja fame, fashion designer Anand Jon Alexander and activists trio Chaudhuri-Mehta-Raghvan.
There are about three million Americans of India origin. They have the highest median income of any national origin group in the US and one in every 26 Indo-Americans is a millionaire, the magazine said.
