Bettiah, Dec 8 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today claimed that the people of the state were no more reeling under 'fear psychosis' as the NDA government had succeeded in improving law and order to a great extent.
Laying the foundation stone of the proposed Bettiah Medical College here, Mr Kumar said the state government had initiated several steps to check crimes and morale of the outlawed were at all time low.
''The NDA government has established rule of law in the state as no one irrespective of his position and party affiliation would be allowed to take advantage of the political patronage,'' he maintained adding there was communal harmony and brotherhood in the society during his tenure.
'' I will not seek fresh mandate from the people in next Bihar Assembly elections if my works for development and prosperity of the people, do not appear satisfactory, '' Mr Kumar vowed.
He said that his government was committed to accelerate the pace of development in the state and it would not be allowed to derail by the baseless criticism of the Opposition, primarily aimed at taking poltical mileage. Stressing on the need for providing basic amenities to every section of the society, he said the state government would now grant financial assistance to families of APL(Above Poverty Line) for construction of lavatories.
'' The flood fury in north Bihar during the last monsoon was worst in recent memory and it was a sort of challenge from the nature,'' Mr Kumar said adding with sincere efforts, the state government had not only successfully faced the tragedy but also turned this challenge into an opportunity. ''The state government had evolved a package for improvement of ravaged infrastructures like roads, bridges and buildings in flood hit area,'' he added.
