New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) An Uttar Pradesh Municipal Councillor, along with two others involved in inter-state auto thefts, were arrested here and eight stolen vehicles recovered from their possesion, police said today.
Muradabad Councillor Zaffar Hussain Khan (50), Imtiyaz Ahmed (30) and Firoz Khan (35) - both hailing from Jammu and Kashmir - were arrested from Malviya Nagar in the capital for auto lifting in four states - Delhi, UP, Uttarakhand and J-K. The accused were associates of the infamous Anil Chauhan and Nasir Kamal gang.
An Esteem car, 2 Santros, a Maruti 800, a Maruti van and three motorcycles were recovered form their possession, the police added.
Interrogation revealed that Zaffar Hussain used to come to Delhi for receiving stolen vehicles from Nasir Kamal and disposed off these vehicles to Imtiyaz, Firoz and one Manzoor Khan who in turn would dispose off the stolen vehicles in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Leh and Ladakh, the police said.
